Anker SOLIX Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro: the biggest challenger EcoFlow has faced yet

Anker unveiled the SOLIX Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro in Berlin in mid-May 2026, and on paper it's the most serious rival EcoFlow's STREAM lineup has had — bigger storage, more solar input, and a beefier inverter than anything EcoFlow currently sells. It's also, once you look at Anker's own UK page, a good demonstration of exactly the regulatory point we covered in our last post: a battery changes everything about how a product gets installed in the UK, no matter whose logo is on it.

What Anker actually announced

The Solarbank 4 Pro is built around a 5kWh LiFePO4 base unit — roughly 30% more than EcoFlow's STREAM Ultra X and well over double the standard STREAM Ultra. Four MPPT trackers accept up to 5,000W of solar input across as many as 12 panels, and a bidirectional inverter switches between an 800W grid-tied mode and a 2,500W off-grid mode via what Anker calls PluginPower 2.0. Storage is modular, too: adding BP5000 expansion units takes a single Solarbank 4 setup up to 30kWh, which starts to look less like a balcony gadget and more like a genuine whole-home battery.

Build quality claims are substantial for the category — IP66 dust and water resistance, corrosion protection aimed at coastal installs, an operating range from -20°C to 55°C, full 100% depth of discharge, and a 10-year warranty against 10,000 charge cycles, which Anker estimates at roughly 15 years of realistic use.

How it stacks up against EcoFlow

Here's the direct comparison against the STREAM Ultra X, the closest thing EcoFlow currently sells:

On raw hardware, Anker's flagship is ahead across the board — more storage, more than double the solar input, and a higher-power inverter. Launch pricing in EU markets undercut that spec jump too: Anker ran a promotion down to €1,499 through 11 June 2026, though that window has now closed and €1,999 is the reference RRP going forward — worth confirming current pricing directly rather than assuming the launch discount still applies.

What it actually costs to install in the UK

Anker's own example configuration on their UK site spells out the real number: one 5kWh Solarbank 4 Pro unit plus 4×500W panels (2,000W total), an off-grid/hardwired 2,500W AC output, an electrician registration fee of £499, and panels priced at £103 each — totalling £2,510 for the complete installed system. That's a materially different buying decision to plug-in-and-go: you're booking a Part P-registered electrician, not opening a box.

TheSolarPlug's take

Is this "the EcoFlow killer"? Not quite, and not yet. Three things are worth weighing before getting excited about the spec sheet:

• It's a bigger, pricier tier. At roughly £2,500 all-in for the UK route, the Solarbank 4 Pro sits above every EcoFlow kit we track on this site, several of which cost under half that for a smaller household's needs. Bigger isn't automatically better value — it depends entirely on how much you actually use.
• It's not a plug-in product in the UK. Whatever "plug-in solar" evokes, Anker's own UK pricing confirms this ships as a professionally installed system here, not a device you connect yourself. That's a fair trade for the extra capacity and output, but it's a different category of purchase and commitment than the kits this site mostly compares.
• UK on-sale timing still isn't confirmed. A live pricing page is a strong signal of intent, but it isn't the same as a confirmed ship date. Treat this as one to watch rather than one to order today.

If Anker does bring a genuinely plug-and-socket version to the UK market later — something closer to how EcoFlow's STREAM kits work today — that would be a much more direct like-for-like challenger, and worth revisiting this piece for. For now, the bigger, badder spec sheet comes bundled with a bigger, more involved installation.
